Air Barrel

The Air Barrel is a piece of equipment that coaches will love for its versatility, shape and dynamic surface.  While it may look like a foam octagon or barrel, it is filled with air and is BOUNCY, helping with drills that cannot be done with traditional foam shapes.  Athletes will appreciate landing on the gentle bouncy surface when doing back handspring, back tuck, and front handspring drills, obstacle courses and more!!

The Air Barrel can be used for tumbling, vaulting and bar skills and teaches body awareness and control. Each Air Barrel includes sturdy handles on the ends for easy mobility. Also, included on each end are d-rings for securing or suspending the Air Barrel for a variety of drills and uses. Each unit includes dual action hand pump.   Now available in two sizes: 24in and 36in diameter.

Do you have limited space or travel from site to site? When not in use, the Air Barrel deflates within seconds, making it incredibly portable and easy to store away.  Be sure to check out the optional cradles for when you want your Large Air Barrel to stay put!

Choosing between the two sizes?  We’ve seen creative coaches set up various stations with the Air Barrels with different height athletes in mind.  For taller athletes, consider raising the height of an Air Barrel by placing it on top of a folded Tumbling Mat or Booster Block.  If it’s the athlete that needs a little more height, have them stand on top of a raised surface.  Here’s some general height guidelines.

  • Choose the 24” Air Barrel if you’re using it for athletes around 38” tall.
  • Choose the 36” Large Air Barrel if you’re using it for athletes around 56” tall.
  1. Cradles can be used to stabilize the Air Barrel for a variety of drills, and make great pre-school shapes when used by themselves. Set them up in obstacle courses or do cartwheels over them.
  2. Unlike foam barrels, the Air Barrel actually gives the user "rebound" which can be great for a variety of drills.

Does the Air Barrel include a pump?
Yes, the Air Barrel includes a hand pump. If you are interested in inflating the unit more quickly, you might consider adding an electric pump to your order.
How long does it take to inflate?
With the hand pump that is included, you can inflate your Air Barrel in about 1-2 minutes. If you purchase the additional electric pump, you can inflate the unit in less than 20 seconds.
How should I transport my air product?
Always carry the Air Product. Do not drag the unit as it could catch on something that may cause damage
What surface can I use my air product on?
Use on a level surface that is free of any debris.
How long should I expect my Air Barrel to stay inflated?
The Air Barrel should remain inflated overnight. Most times, you will need to "top off" the air with a few pumps from the hand pump in the morning. Note: extreme air temperature changes may cause the air inside to constrict or expand which may be a factor in how tight or soft your Air Barrel feels.
My Air Barrel has a slow leak, what do I do?
Try to locate the source of the leak using a spray bottle of water with a few drops of dish soap in it. A patch kit can be requested from Customer Service or you can find kits anywhere inflatable camping equipment is sold.
