Life is full of CHOICES

Life is full of choices. Some folks deliberate decisions, others are impulsive. In recent days, the nation has watched as devastating disasters struck many communities with an impact that was unfathomable. The Emerald City Gymnastics Team did not hesitate in their choice to jump into action and help. In just 48 hours, their gym community came together and raised $26,000 for Hurricane Harvey Relief efforts.

The choice to GIVE is one that is embedded in ECGA’s culture, humbly led by Sandy Flores, owner of Emerald City Gymnastics Academy in Redmond, WA.   Whether it’s disaster relief, cancer, personal hardship, or wishes for the world, the ECGA team has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to help others. When asked what inspires her, Sandy reflects on the pride she has for her staff, her athletes, and the gymnastics community at large.

“My life feels better when I am doing for others.”

Charity Choice Invitational. It is fitting then that Sandy and ECGA’s Head Coach, Brian Muenz host an Annual Invitational Meet where each attending team is given “A chance to make a difference”, as cash donations are awarded to charities chosen by each participating team . The spirit of Charity Choice is heart felt by the athletes, parents, those who attend, volunteer, coach and judge the meet underneath the beautiful “signature” umbrella laden ceiling. This year, Charity Choice Invitational has clubs representing 3 countries, 16 states and 5 regions attending (so far!), and to date has raised over $150,000 for various non-profit charities.

Good People Bring out the Good in People.  Thanks Emerald City Gymnastics Academy, and Sandy Flores for bringing out the good in people and representing our gymnastics community so graciously.
